BEIRUT — An explosion of unknown cause occurred Tuesday afternoon between the areas of Nabi Sheet and Sarine on the Lebanese border with Syria in the Bekaa Valley, our correspondent in the Bekaa reports.

Here’s what we know:

    • Two sources in the locality told our correspondent that the explosion could have been caused by the destruction of old ammunition belonging to Hezbollah, and not an airstrike. Another source claims that the explosion was accidental and took place at one of Hezbollah’s training centers.

    • Images and videos circulating on social media show a plume of gray smoke in the area of the explosion.
