Miss Lebanon 2022 Yasmina Zaytoun came second at Miss World 2023, elected first runner-up to Czech Krystyna Pyszková, who won the title. The 71st edition of the pageant was held on Saturday.
Elected Miss Lebanon on July 24, 2022, Yasmina Zaytoun is an ambassador for the Lebanese Food Bank and the Children's Cancer Center in Lebanon.
'Thanks to Lebanon'
"Living in Lebanon, I've learned to always get back up," Zaytoun said after qualifying in the Top 4. "Because, with a double blast, we were able to keep going and get back up," she continued during the ceremony, which was broadcast on LBCI.
"Thank you Lebanon, for teaching me to be what I am," she concluded.
Originally from Kfar Shuba and a resident of Achrafieh, the 22-year-old had always dreamed of competing for the Miss Lebanon crown. "I didn't take part just for the fun of it, or for the experience, as they say. I put all the chances on my side. I was there to win," she told L'Orient-Le Jour a few weeks after her crowning in 2022. Despite her triumph, the NDU journalism student did not wish to interrupt her studies.
