Twenty kilograms of hashish were seized by the Internal Security Forces (ISF) at Beirut International Airport, reports the state-run National News Agency (NNA).

Two Lebanese women were trying to transport the drugs to Istanbul, the same source said.

This arrest comes almost two weeks after the cyberattack at the airport which caused a malfunction of the baggage belts and displayed an anti-Hezbollah message on the screens that give the flight details.

In recent years, Lebanese authorities have intensified their efforts to combat drug trafficking from Lebanon or transiting through the country, a practice regularly singled out by Gulf Arab countries.
