BEIRUT — Ogero, the public operator responsible for managing fixed telephone and internet services in Lebanon, reported on Monday a breakdown at its Jeita center "due to high pressure on the generators" used by the company.

This failure led to an interruption in the operator's services in the regions covered by this center. Repairs are underway, according to a company press release.

The generators are used as a backup to produce the electricity needed to run the telecommunications stations during the many hours when public electricity is rationed.

Outages have occurred regularly on Ogero's network since the start of the economic crisis in 2019, notably due to a lack of electricity supply or equipment theft.
