The Lebanese Army claimed on Friday to have foiled an irregular migration attempt by Syrians off the coast of Tripoli in North Lebanon.
In a statement, the troops said they rescued 29 Syrian migrants from a sinking makeshift boat.
Attempts to emigrate irregularly from Lebanon multiplied in recent years, while the country has been in the grip of a severe economic crisis for over four years.
At the end of September, approximately 30 Syrians attempting to leave Lebanon clandestinely by sea were rescued off the northern coast of Chekka.
