BEIRUT — The Civil Defense on Tuesday afternoon put out a fire that erupted in Dawra, which triggered panic among locals due to its closeness to fuel tanks in the area. Civil Defense said the fire is "under control."

Contacted by L'Orient Today, a Civil Defense spokesperson said the fire broke out in a landfill and that they sent three vehicles to fight it. It is "under control,” the spokesperson said, adding that “people think it is very close to the fuel tanks but it is 300 meters away."

In the early morning, an electrical generator exploded at a residential building in Beirut’s Zoqaq al-Blat neighborhood, causing a massive fire which spread to two diesel tanks and damaged three apartments, a shop and six cars. There were no reported injuries.
