BEIRUT — A stray bullet hit the car of Roland Chartouni, Government Commissioner to the Military Court, as it entered the parking lot of Beirut's international airport on Monday the state-run National News Agency reported.

The judge had just parked his vehicle and entered the airport when the bullet pierced the hood of the SUV. There were no reported injuries.

An investigation has been launched.

Incidents involving stray bullets are frequent in Beirut, particularly in the area around the airport. In early March, gunfire between rival families in Jnah narrowly missed a landing airplane.

In November 2022, a stray bullet pierced the fuselage of a Middle East Airlines plane before it landed, with MP Paula Yacoubian on board.

And in January 2022, Greece's Aegean Airlines suspended flights to Beirut following damage to the fuselage of one of its aircraft, which had landed in the Lebanese capital the previous day.
