BEIRUT — Bread prices in Lebanon changed again on Monday, as the Lebanese lira continues to depreciate against the US dollar on the parallel market. The lira was trading at around LL116,000 to the dollar on Monday afternoon.

A medium-size bundle of bread, 822 grams, now costs LL42,000, while it cost LL39,000 for 825 grams on Thursday. A large bundle of bread, 1,013 grams, now costs LL50,000, compared to LL47,000 for 1,033 grams on Thursday. The price of the small bread bundle was not included in the ministry's list.

Representatives of the sector told the state-run National News Agency earlier in March that the time had come to switch to daily pricing of bread due to the almost constant fluctuations of the lira against the dollar. The Ministry of Economy and Trade, which sets the price of bread, has not yet announced an official decision in this regard.
