BEIRUT — Bread prices in Lebanon increased again on Tuesday, after the rate of the Lebanese pound to the dollar crossed the LL100,000 mark on the parallel market, bringing with it an increase in fuel prices.

Representatives of the sector told the state-run National News Agency that the time had come to switch to daily pricing of bread due to the almost constant fluctuations of the pound against the dollar. The Ministry of Economy and Trade, which sets the price of bread, has not yet announced an official decision in this regard.

The ministry published a new tariff schedule on Tuesday, following two publications last Friday and Monday. According to the new scale, the average bread package of 815 grams now costs LL37,000. On Monday, 805 grams were priced at LL35,000. The large parcel of bread, which weighs 1,032 grams, is currently sold at LL45,000, instead of Monday's price of LL 44,000 for 1,062 grams.
