Corruption investigations in Baabda, Chouf, Aley, Zalka and Jounieh have all been referred to investigating judges. A judicial source said the accused employees are of all religious backgrounds.

Lebanon's land registries have been subject to a corruption probe for several months.In November, the Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor's Office started examining cases involving land registry employees in Baabda, Chouf, Aley, Metn and Kesrouan, all of whom were suspected of accepting scraps from applicants for real estate paperwork.While many employees were arrested as part of these malpractice cases, some Christian parties denounced the double standard of justice and asked why the fight against corruption did not also target the land registries in other parts of the country, including Nabatieh, Saida and Akkar.Last week, MP Ziad Hawat (Lebanese Forces/Jbeil) filed a complaint before the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Cassation, asking it to order all offices of the appellate prosecutor to conduct investigations, following the...
