Another record low for the Lebanese lira on the parallel market: the online platform Lirarate.org indicated Thursday around 10:38 a.m. that the dollar was buying at LL65,000 and selling at LL64,800.

The gap between this rate and that of the Banque du Liban's Sayrafa platform (LL43,600 since Wednesday) now widens to about LL21,400.

The continuous depreciation of the Lebanese lira against the dollar recently led to street protests, with some demonstrators blocking several roads across the country and holding sit-ins.

Since Lebanon's economic crisis started in 2019, the national currency has lost more than 98 percent of its value. Meanwhile, Lebanese authorities continue to stall the adoption of reforms needed to stem the country's financial collapse.
