Five anti-personnel mines exploded on Wednesday morning along the border between Lebanon and Israel, near the town of Adaisseh, during excavation work carried out by the Israeli army, the state-run National News Agency reported, adding that no injuries had been reported.

The mines were detonated along the technical fence between the two countries as an excavating machine carried out work in the area.

Violations and security incidents are very common along Lebanon's southern border.

The explosion of mines planted in Lebanon during successive wars sometimes cause casualties. Mine clearance operations conducted by UN teams and the Lebanese Army have removed many of these devices, but some remain.
