BEIRUT — An electronic device connected to a bottle of gasoline was placed near the car of photographer Hasan Shaaban while it was parked in front of his home in Beit Yahoun, in the southern governate of Nabatieh, the SKeyes Center for Press and Cultural Freedom reported Thursday.

Here's what we know:

    • "I found a cardboard box near the rear tire with a bottle of gasoline inside and two small batteries connected," Shaaban told SKeyes, claiming that it was an attempt to set his vehicle on fire. The photographer has been in touch with intelligence services.

    • Reacting to this incident, the Alternative Press syndicate called "colleagues and activists to demonstrate in front of the Ministries of Interior and Information in Sanayeh, tomorrow Friday, at 4:30 p.m.

    • Less than a month ago, the photographer announced that a group of individuals, believed to be supporters of Hezbollah, attacked him in South Lebanon because of videos and messages posted on social networks about a group of residents of the town of Beit Yahoun who were protesting against water shortages in a country in crisis. The next day, a bullet was placed on Shaaban's vehicle. And a few days later, the tire of his car was punctured and bore a message threatening him.
