Here’s what we know:

    • According to our correspondent, the garbage is causing unpleasant odors and giving rise to the fear of the spread of insects and rodents. Saida’s residents have called on officials to quickly resolve the crisis, our correspondent added.

    • For around two weeks, the employees of the garbage treatment center in Saida have been on strike to demand the payment of their salaries. Faced with this situation, the municipal authorities temporarily moved the city’s waste to land near the Sainik sorting center, south of Saida.

    • Waste management is a chronic problem in Lebanon, with problems often resolved with stop-gap solutions.
