Labor minister encourages citizens to vote during political forum hosted by Hezbollah

BEIRUT — Labor Minister Mustafa Bayram said he encourages citizens to vote in the upcoming parliamentary elections during a Saturday political forum hosted by Hezbollah, according to the state-run National News Agency.

    • According to the NNA, Bayram said the"parliamentary elections are crucial and decisive since they determine Lebanon’s policy for at least four years ahead." Speaking at the political forum hosted by Hezbollah in Yohmor al-Shafiq, the labor minister also urged citizens to “head massively to the polls on May 15 to send a message to the world that Lebanon is capable of managing itself.”

    • Bayram also discussed the region’s resistance in the face of Israel, and said, “This calls us to be wary and alert to the Israeli dangers facing Lebanon and the need to strengthen the bonds of internal national unity and to rally around the resistance, the army, and the state and its institutions.”

    • Yohmor al-Shafiq is an area in Nabatieh, part of the South III voting district, which has two opposition lists formed by independents, Together Towards Change (Ma'an Nahwa Al Taghyeer) and Voice of the South (Sawt Al Janoub).

    • In September 2021, Mustafa Bayram was chosen by Amal Movement and Hezbollah in Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s government.
