BEIRUT — The Akkar Revolutionaries activist group staged a sit in on Thursday in front of Abdullah Al Rassi Governmental Hospital in Halba, Akkar, to demand the opening of the hospital’s dialysis center, the National News Agency reports.

Here’s what we know:

    • The activists then met with Mohamad Khadrin, the hospital’s director, and explained to him that the dialysis patients in Akkar are suffering as the hospitals in the area allow them to have only two dialysis treatments per week, while the majority of patients require three sessions a week.

    • Khadrin was asked to deliver their demand to Health Minister Firass Abiad, asking him to send “maintenance teams to inspect and repair the dialysis machines at the Abdullah Al Rassi hospital, which are eight machines, as this will reduce pressure on other hospitals,” adding that a blood donation center is also a crucial need.

    • The Akkar Revolutionaries warned that they will be giving the authorities a week and a half to open the dialysis center at Abdullah Al-Rassi Governmental Hospital “or else we will be taking action in the region, and close the hospital by force.”
