Gasoline, diesel and household cooking gas see price increases

BEIRUT — New fuel prices announced by the Energy Ministry on Tuesday show an increase in the cost of gasoline, diesel and cooking gas.

Here’s what we know:

    • The price of 20 liters of 95-octane and 98-octane gas rose by LL15,600 to LL351,400 and LL363,400 respectively. Diesel increased by LL24,200 to reach LL360,400. The price of a tank of household gas rose by LL20,700 and now costs LL319,300.

    • Fadi Abou Chakra, the head of the fuel distributors’ syndicate, told VDL (100.3) that the increase in fuel prices today is attributed to recent tense political rhetoric and the rise in the lira-to-dollar exchange rate.
