Since December 2024, a new Café des Lettres has been operating on the campus of the French Embassy in Beirut. Originally established in the mid-1990s as a social space within the embassy, the café was recently relaunched under the management of Maurice Sursock and his company, Food and Design, which won a bid for the project in late 2023."I secured a contract for six years, until 2030," said Sursock.The new Café des Lettres offers a customized experience, both in concept and design, specifically tailored for the embassy. "We developed a specific formula for this location: a salad bar with a counter, a sandwich counter, hot dishes, and menus adapted to the rhythm of the day — breakfast, lunch, and soon, happy hour," Sursock said.Breakfast is available for $5.50, with light and full options.
